Bio – Pastor Laban Jjumba

Laban Jjumba came to know the Lord in 1965. Laban was among the founding leaders of the “Deliverance Church” family of churches in Uganda in the early 1970s, which currently numbers about 250 congregations across the country.

He is a member of the apostolic team which governs this church movement. In 1971/72 he was the President of the Makerere University Christian Union while pursuing studies in Engineering. During this time, together with a group of believers, he began to pray for the nation. After the war of 1979 which ousted President Idi Amin, the group formalised into “Intercessors for Uganda” which is a network mobilising prayer for the nation. In 1985 Laban, together with a team of other African Christian leaders founded “Intercessors for Africa” which is a continental movement of prayer and Christian leadership training to shape the destiny of Africa. Laban ministers widely as a speaker in conferences and churches in Africa and the world.

Laban is married to Margaret. They have five children and two grandchildren.
