He is a member of the apostolic team which governs this church movement. In 1971/72 he was the President of the Makerere University Christian Union while pursuing studies in Engineering. During this time, together with a group of believers, he began to pray for the nation. After the war of 1979 which ousted President Idi Amin, the group formalised into “Intercessors for Uganda” which is a network mobilising prayer for the nation. In 1985 Laban, together with a team of other African Christian leaders founded “Intercessors for Africa” which is a continental movement of prayer and Christian leadership training to shape the destiny of Africa. Laban ministers widely as a speaker in conferences and churches in Africa and the world.
Laban is married to Margaret. They have five children and two grandchildren.
